Are you an avid angler on the hunt for your next big adventure? Look no further than Gabon! Tucked away on the stunning west coast of Central Africa, this breathtaking destination is a sportfishing paradise where the thrill of the catch meets the beauty of nature. With its pristine waters and rich biodiversity, Gabon offers an unparalleled experience for those eager to reel in a world record specimen.

The Best Fishing Spots in Loango National Park

At the heart of sportfishing in Gabon lies Loango National Park, often referred to as Africa’s last Eden. This protected area boasts two prime fishing locations: Iguela in the north and Sette Cama in the south. Both spots are renowned for their exhilarating and challenging fishing experiences, attracting anglers from around the globe.

 Iguela: A Northern Treasure

To the north, Iguela offers a captivating experience with N’dola lodge just a stone's throw from the river mouth. Known for its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, fishing here is nothing short of exhilarating! You’ll have the chance to catch a variety of species, including Guinean barracuda, Senegalese kob, tarpon, cubera snapper, kingfish, giant threadfin, and many more. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice angler, Iguela promises an unforgettable day on the water. Plus, this site offers exciting activities like safaris, forest walks, and even gorilla trekking! N'dola lodge host up to 6 fishermen with more flexible dates.

Sette-Cama: Southern Serenity

Sette Cama is a hidden treasure for sportfishing enthusiasts. The large estuaries here spill into the Atlantic Ocean, creating a natural bottleneck that allows for an abundance of large predatory fish to pass through. Imagine the thrill of casting your line and feeling the tug of a massive 180-pound tarpon or even larger! The excitement of fishing in such a pristine environment is truly unmatched. The lodge hosts up to 8 fishermen for set dates of 5, 6 and 9 days fishing. The lodge is very popular among fishermen and booking in advance is a must.

Bonus Destination: Orlende Marine Park – For Extreme Fishermen Only!

For the thrill-seekers, we recommend Orlende Marine Park —a spot reserved for extreme fishermen. Located about an hour's drive from Port Gentil to the Tarpon Club Guest House, this well-equipped camp only accommodates a select number of fishermen at specific times. Fishing here often yields monster fish, but be warned, it can get crowded with fellow anglers from Port Gentil, as it’s a shared concession. The camp hosts up to 6 fishermen for set dates of 6, 8, 10, and 12 days fishing.

The Perfect Time to Fish

If you’re planning a fishing trip to Gabon, timing is everything! The best months for sportfishing are between November and March. During this period, the waters are teeming with fish, and your chances of landing a trophy catch are significantly higher. Be sure to book your fishing slots in advance, as both Iguela , Sette Cama and Orlende have limited availability, accommodating only 6-8 fishermen at a time depending on the type of fishing being practiced.

 A Unique Experience Awaits

Sportfishing in Gabon is not just about the catch; it’s about immersing yourself in nature and experiencing the thrill of the chase. The combination of stunning landscapes, rich wildlife, and the chance to catch a world record fish makes this destination a must-visit for any fishing enthusiast.

So, pack your gear and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime in Gabon! Whether you’re casting your line in the tranquil waters of Loango National Park or navigating the estuaries of Orlende Marine Park, you’re sure to create memories that will last a lifetime.
